Steam keeps validating my game files
Starting from today every time I start it up, it validates the steam cache files. One time I somehow managed to launch it, then my computer crashed because it was running to much stuff and now I can't get back on at all. It's okay if you can't help, but if you have any experience with this issue, it would be great.I had the same issue and what I did was uninstall Skyrim, right clicked its grayed out name, went to properties, Local Files, Browse local files and then I deleted everything that was in that file.I proceeded to delete everything Skyrim related () I then re-installed the vanilla game again and it now runs like it was just this moment bought.Do not run the verification process while performing other system-intensive processes, such as defragmenting your hard drive or scanning for viruses.Do not run this process for multiple games at the same time.It compares the game files you have on installed your computer with those of of the latest version on the steam servers. If its different in any way it replaces or adds on any files.
I've tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the offending game to no avail.
) This happened when I was trying to make Portal 2 and Stanley pabs together and I deleted some files accidentally.
So I clicked the Verify thing and I could play Stanley pabs again!
I'm curious as to what exactly the verify option does.
I know on some other games I have tried it on, steam will end up downloading some files, but apparently not all files are included in this.
It has happened on two games now: Total War Rome II and Call of Duty Ghosts.
